• 这件事发生在耶稣用五饼二鱼喂饱五千人之后;

• 耶稣叫众人散开独自上山;

• 去祷告;

• 天国君王谦卑的榜样和祷告的榜样;

• 对比:两位君王,两场宴席;

• 「是我!」的含义;

(I am who I am.)

(Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I am.)

• 基督的爱;

(I am who I am.) (Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I am.)

Scriptures: Mark 6:45-52

45 Immediately Jesus made his disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of him to Bethsaida, while he dismissed the crowd. 46 After leaving them, he went up on a mountainside to pray.47 Later that night, the boat was in the middle of the lake, and he was alone on land. 48 He saw the disciples straining at the oars, because the wind was against them. Shortly before dawn he went out to them, walking on the lake. He was about to pass by them, 49 but when they saw him walking on the lake, they thought he was a ghost. They cried out, 50 because they all saw him and were terrified. Immediately he spoke to them and said, “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.” 51 Then he climbed into the boat with them, and the wind died down. They were completely amazed, 52 for they had not understood about the loaves; their hearts were hardened. 1. The model of the king of heaven;

• This happened after Jesus fed five thousand people with five loaves and two fish; • Jesus told the crowd to scatter and go up the mountain alone; • to pray; • The model of humility and prayer of the king of heaven; 2. The weakness of the people on earth; Recall the structure of Mark Chapter 6: • In Mark 6:7, Jesus called the twelve disciples, sent them two by two, and gave them authority to subdue evil spirits. In chapter 6 verses 12-13, the disciples went out to preach repentence, and drive out many ghosts, oiled many sick people, and healed them. • Then, in Mark Chapter 6 verses 14-29, the death of John the Baptist was recorded. Because John the Baptist pointed out that Herod had committed adultery and married an illegal wife, Herod's wife wanted to kill John. On this day, Herod set up a feast, drinking and talking, in order to please Herodias, he agreed to Herodias' request, cut off John's head, and showed his head on the banquet. • Then in the same chapter, Mark 6:30-44, Jesus performed miracles to feed five thousand people. Jesus taught people with the miracle of feeding five thousand people. He is the bread of life. Not only can he fill people with bread, but his body is the bread of life, which must be broken apart to feed the hungry and withered souls. When Jesus said that he was the bread of life, and when he commanded everyone to eat his flesh, he said that he would die on the cross and his body would become the ransom for everyone. • Immediately following the same chapter, Chapter 6 of Mark's Gospel, the night after Jesus fed the five thousand people, the crowd gradually receded. Jesus went up the mountain alone to pray, and asked the disciples to go boating, and to cross to the other side of the Sea of Galilee. Because the wind on the sea was relatively strong that night, the disciples rowed the boat very hard. When Jesus saw it on the mountain, he went to them. • Jesus walked to the shore and into the water. Then Jesus walked on the sea and walked to the disciples. But the disciples saw him walking on the sea, thinking they saw a ghost, they cried out. Immediately he spoke to them and said, “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.” (Mark 6:50) Contrast: I can perform miracles, and my own teacher can also perform miracles; but I am still panicked in times of crisis. Obviously, they did not live a miracle-performing life. They did not realize through the miracles they performed, what kind of Lord the Lord who gave them the ability to perform miracles was. 3. The king who gives peace and redemption - It is I, don't be afraid! • Contrast: two kings, two banquets; • The meaning of "It is I!"; • Exodus 3:14: I am who I am. • John 8:57-59 57“You are not yet fifty years old,” they said to him, “and you have seen Abraham!”58 “Very truly I tell you,” Jesus answered, “before Abraham was born, I am!” 59 At this, they picked up stones to stone him, but Jesus hid himself, slipping away from the temple grounds. Jesus said: I tell you the truth, I was there before Abraham. (Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I am.) So they took stones to hit him; but Jesus hid and went out of the temple. • It is I! • The love of Christ; • It's me, don't be afraid! • Luke 1:11-14 11 Then an angel of the Lord appeared to him, standing at the right side of the altar of incense. 12 When Zechariah saw him, he was startled and was gripped with fear. 13 But the angel said to him: “Do not be afraid, Zechariah; your prayer has been heard. Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you are to call him John. 14 He will be a joy and delight to you, and many will rejoice because of his birth. • Luke 1:26-31 26 In the sixth month of Elizabeth’s pregnancy, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, 27 to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. 28 The angel went to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.”29 Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be. 30 But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God. 31 You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus. • Luke 2:8-14 8 And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. 9 An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. 10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. 11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. 12 This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” 13 Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, 14 “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.” • It is I, don't be afraid! ——It is the message of Christmas! • Our Lord is the one who gives peace!
