That means our church shares the same cultural context and challenges as other Chinese churches in North America. If you hope to gain pastoral experience through an internship at our church, or to get a preliminary understanding of the situation of Chinese churches in North America, we warmly welcome your application. If you would like information about other similar internship programs in the Chinese-speaking world, we are happy to introduce them—please feel free to ask.

如果實習⽣是被其他⾮⼤陸地區的教會所差派,那麽差派教會、本教會、實習⽣本⼈籌款將按 2:2:1 的⽐例負責這筆預算;
(1) Budget
We have prepared a budget based on the standard of a single brother. The detailed breakdown is shown in the table below. The monthly budget for each intern is approximately $2,500, which covers travel, study, and living expenses during the internship.
If the intern is sent by a church outside of Mainland China, the sending church, our church, and the intern personally will be responsible for this budget in a 2:2:1 ratio.
If the intern comes from a Mainland China church, our church, or if the intern’s home church does not plan to send him for this training, then our church and the intern personally will cover the budget in a 4:1 ratio.
The portion of the budget to be covered by the intern personally should be raised through fundraising, which is also a way to invite others to partner with you in ministry.
(2) Allocation
We plan to provide a monthly stipend of $800 to interns to help cover living expenses. Other needs will be coordinated and arranged by the church.
Interns Budget (6 month)
Category Housing Cost $8400 ($1400/month)
Living Cost $4800 ($800/month)
Travel, Books & Misc. $1800 ($300/month)
Total $15000

For interns with families, both the intern and his wife must join our church; otherwise, the internship will be automatically terminated. However, the stipend during the internship will still follow the established standard. Interns with families may raise additional funds, but the amount must be approved by the church’s elder board and handled through the intern’s personal account.

The internship observes U.S. public holidays, but there are no annual or personal leave days (except for emergency family situations). However, if an assignment is due on a holiday, you are still required to submit it according to the schedule. There may be 1–2 weeks during the internship set aside for review or off-site training, which can be considered as appropriate time off.
Additionally, due to the intensity and workload of the internship, please do not schedule any personal trips during this period, including supporting other churches’ services.

After the internship, you have complete freedom to decide your next steps, and in fact, you should have already considered this before or during the internship. You may choose to pursue theological studies, join a local church for ministry, find a regular job, or remain as a member of our church. Please note that our church neither promises nor is responsible for arranging your next position or funding your theological education.

Most of the reading materials are available in both Chinese and English, and the majority of participating pastors and interns can read, write, and communicate in both languages. Therefore, as long as you can understand basic everyday spoken Chinese, you can participate in our church’s internship program. We especially encourage second-generation Christians in Chinese churches to consider joining. Discussions and learning can also be conducted in English when appropriate.
